About Us

Hi there and welcome!  We are a husband/wife team that share a passion for all animals, furry and scaled.  We have collectively been keeping reptiles for many years and decided to take it to the next level and share the joy these unique critters bring us with you!  We want to educate and bring more attention to these underrated, very unique pets. 

Since we started our isopod collection, we quickly became fascinated with the huge variety of species, the different colors, shapes and sizes.  Our collection grew rapidly as we discovered more and more different species.  When we would mention our past time to people, we quickly realized that there’s so many people who don’t know what an isopod is!  We told them that they are “fancy roly polies” and when seeing pictures of some of the different kinds, they described some as adorable, some as beautiful and became very intrigued.  They would start asking questions. How do you take care of them, what do they eat, how often do you have to feed and water them, etc. When explaining the ease of care, they couldn’t believe it and it made us really want to share them even more. 

We’ve always loved crested geckos and finally bought our first in 2020 and grew to six by 2021.  When we decided to start selling isopods, we said why not make it a whole and start sharing the love of the geckos too?  We knew we were coming into the industry with so many amazing, established breeders.  Is that scary?  Heck yeah it is!  But we love these little guys and we wanted to expand our personal knowledge as well and learn as much about them and their genetics and traits as we could.  Our problem?  We want to keep them all! 

We took a leap of faith with this and hope to one day create something amazing, hence why we chose the name “Gambit”.  We took a risk and collectively put everything we had into making our dream of having our own little business a reality.  Now, when you look at the whole definition of Gambit, you see the word “advantage”.  At first, you probably think of the advantage being profit or wanting to be “top dog”, but that’s not the case for us.  Of course we want to be successful in what we do, but we’re not in this just for profits.  We’re in this because we love these animals and want to be successful in providing quality, amazing animals to share with other reptile and exotic pet keepers alike.   

Gambit: an action in a chess game or other situation that is intended to achieve an advantage and usually involves taking a risk. 

Advantage: any state, circumstance, opportunity, or means specifically favorable to success, interest, or any desired end.   

Our animals are part of the family. We take pride in keeping and raising our animals to the highest of standards.
